Andri Hendrizal is a coastal ecologist and lecturer in the Department of Aquatic Resources Management, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science, Universitas Riau. His research bridges ecological science and local knowledge to support inclusive mangrove governance in Indonesia.
He is currently pursuing his PhD at the Institute of Biological Science, Universiti Malaya, focusing on the development of simplified assessment frameworks for mangrove ecosystem health. He holds a Master’s degree in Biology from Universitas Gadjah Mada and has extensive experience working with coastal communities in Riau Province on ecosystem services, traditional ecological knowledge, and community-based conservation.
Andri’s work explores how mangrove landscapes function ecologically and culturally, and how these insights can inform effective restoration and policy interventions. His current projects examine traditional management systems, carbon dynamics in mangrove forests, and community empowerment through mangrove-based product.
