Where we work

 

Mangrove Lab ID operates primarily in the Riau Province of Indonesia, a region rich in mangrove biodiversity and cultural heritage. Our research and community engagement activities are focused in three key locations:

• Pangkalan Jambi, Bengkalis Regency – A coastal village where we collaborate with local communities to document traditional ecological knowledge and support mangrove-based product innovation.

• Kelurahan Purnama, Dumai City – An urban mangrove area where we conduct ecological assessments and promote environmental awareness among youth and residents.

• Bandar Bakau, Dumai City – A community-led conservation site where we support environmental education, capacity building, and participatory mangrove governance.

These sites represent diverse ecological and socio-cultural contexts, allowing us to develop place-based approaches to research, conservation, and community empowerment.
