Ecological Research

We conduct ecological studies on mangrove ecosystems, focusing on species inventory, biodiversity assessments, and key ecological functions. Our fieldwork documents species composition, habitat characteristics, and ecological interactions that support mangrove resilience and productivity. These data contribute to conservation planning, restoration design, and long-term ecosystem monitoring in Indonesia's coastal landscapes.

Traditional Ecological Knowledge

Our research explores how local communities manage mangrove ecosystems based on inherited knowledge and lived experiences. We document traditional ecological knowledge (TEK) through ethnographic studies, participatory mapping, and oral histories. This research highlights locally embedded conservation practices and contributes to co-management frameworks that respect cultural heritage and empower communities.

Community-Based Initiatives

We support community development through the sustainable use of mangrove resources. This includes capacity building in the production of mangrove-based goods, training in digital marketing, and support for eco-entrepreneurship. These initiatives aim to enhance local livelihoods while maintaining the ecological integrity of mangrove ecosystems.

Policy and Governance

Our work informs policy to promote inclusive and science-based mangrove governance. We engage with policymakers, practitioners, and civil society to support the integration of ecological evidence and local knowledge into coastal management strategies.
